Apols for the blog delay....

Things have been a bit odd in the last few days, sadly the problems that appear to have been escalating in my Mum and Dad's previously quiet surburban seaside close exploded on Monday evening when somebody set fire to and destroyed my Mum and Dad's car.

Below is the link to the story.

I had heard that they had been having problems in the road specifically with one particulary unsavoury character but it seems as though things have finally got out of hand.

Hopefully the council and the Police will be able to prove who the Perpetrator is and they will be able to stop him from ruining anybody's elses lives.

On to brighter news, and England succesfully qualified for the second phase of the World Cup with a hard fought victory over Trinidad and Tobago, they had to wait for the goals to arrive with Crouch and Gerrard striking in the the last five minutes or so. England awaits the outcome of the Ecuador v Germany game to have an idea of who they will be playing in the next round should they top the group after their last game against Sweden on Tuesday evening.

Phew what a scorcher

C'mon you'd have been disappointed if I hadn't called it that.

Anyway, Friday's Amblers Golf Day was a fantastic day, great company, good food and superb golf. Three Birdies on the back nine with two missed birdie puts gave me a total of 40 Stableford Points, with two holes that I didn't score on I was very very pleased indeed.

It was good enough to give me 2nd place overall, but having won the "Longest Drive" up the 10th into a rather hefty wind and also the "Nearest the pin with 2nd shot" on the 14th and also being a member of the 2nd placed team it seemed fair enough that the organisers changed the prize. But 12 cans of Fosters and a bottle of Wine was a good days work.

The round culminated in me unleashing another monsterous drive on the 18th, ending up pin high just to left of the bunker, according to the scorecard a drive of some 377 yards. A good up and down and another birdie, happy days.

Having also driven to pin high on the 14th* and 15th (* hence the reason I was closest with my 2nd shot, I was putting) it seems that my driver has changed my game almost immeasurably. Not bad for a Donnay driver from Sports Soccer which in their neverending sale set me back £5.77 or something along those lines. Great Stuff.

Not so great was England's perfomance in their World Cup opener against Paraguay, we edged the South Americans out courtesy of an early own goal and although looked comfortable enough in the first half, finished the game very nervously, not helped by the withdrawal of Owen and the introduction of Hargreaves.

A better performance is a must as we look to take advantage of Sweden's inability to score against Trinidad and Tobago by taking on the Caribbean islanders on Thursday.
